Mary “Josie” Boyd

     1931 – 2021

Mary Josephine “Josie” Boyd of Miramichi passed away at Losier Hall, Shannex on October 7, 2021, at the age of 90.

Born in Chatham, on January 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Bertha (Martin) Flaherty.

Josie is survived by one daughter, Brenda Cook (late Wendall) of Miramichi; two sons: Gary Boyd (Joni) of Ottawa, ON, and Tim Boyd (Thelma) of Middle Sackville, NS; eight grandchildren: Samantha, Pamela, Troy, Jeffery, Bonnie, Tyson, Alexander, and William; five great-grandchildren: Evan, Amber, Jack, Hudson, and Ellie; one brother, Floyd Flaherty of Kingston, ON; one sister-in-law, Rose Mary Flaherty of Miramichi; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers: Arthur and Gerald Flaherty; and two sisters: Rosella Hallihan and Norma Nowlan.

A very special thank you to the staff at Eastside Special Care Home for treating her as family and Losier Hall for taking such great care of her.

By request of the family, there was no visitation.  A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church with The Reverend Father John Fraser as Celebrant.  Interment was held in St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Music for the service was prerecorded music was by Jeff Boyd, accompanied by Scott Richardson.  Hymns included "Our Father", and "Ave Maria".  Scripture readings were read by Dwain Hallihan and Troy Cook.  Prayers of the Faithful were by Tim Boyd. 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
