Nancy Jean Akhtar

Nancy Akhtar, 68, of West Monroe, passed away October 8th, 2021. Born in Whitehall , PA on August 23, 1953 to the late Earl and Helen (Peters) Bortz. Nancy worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation before medically retiring and subsequently relocated to West Monroe, Louisiana. She is survived by her daughter Nadia Adams (spouse Corey Adams), her three grandchildren: Canaan, Adriel, and Gwen; siblings Robert Bortz of Topton, Dawn Wetzel of Whitehall, and Carol Rosecrans of Whitehall; and a number of dearly beloved friends who became family. She is preceded in death by siblings Joan Thibou, Patricia Laub, Linda Rohrbach, Kay Schuster and Eugene Bortz. Nancy was a devout Christian with a deeply profound love for God and the message of Jesus. In addition to being a daughter of Christ, she had an affinity for reading and sharing stories. She often created bold imaginative worlds through oral storytelling with her daughter and grandchildren, leaving behind beautiful memories of ad libbed adventures. Her love for God and her creativity inspired those around her to seek their greatest potential. To respect Nancy's final wishes, there will be no formal funeral arrangements or services.
