Joan Starratt Cutler
A long time resident of Marietta, Ga, Joan Starratt Cutler, 73, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021.We never thought this day would come. She was a survivor and a fighter. After having a brain hemorrhagic stroke, beating all the odds and surviving over 15 more years then expected, this has been heart breaking. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Russell “Rusty” Edward Cutler, III, her parents Charles and Elenor Starratt and her baby brother Scott Starratt. Joan leaves behind, to cherish and honor her memory, her three beautiful children, Ted Cutler ( Melissa) of Acworth, GA, Katie Cutler Cansler ( Chris) of Canton, GA and David Cutler of Marietta,GA. Five wonderful grandchildren: Hailey and Gabriel Cutler, Brittany Franklin ( Jonathan), and Ainslie and Lindsy Cansler. 2 great grandchildren: Jon and Elliott Franklin. Her siblings: Mary Dinatale (Terry), Peter Starratt, Jay Starratt (Maria) and Charles Starratt (Pamela) Many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Joan was born to Charles and Elenor Starratt on July 6, 1948, in Maryland. She graduated from St. Prius high school in Atlanta, GA and started to attend college until she met and married Russell, on August 10. 1968. The hottest day of the year, to get married in a church without any AC. They were married for 51 years, when Russell lost his battle to Multiple Myeloma. During there marriage, they had 3 kids, 5 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. Joan loved spending time with her grandkids. When she was able, she would take them shopping, to do crafts and to eat all the junk food possible. She had the biggest sweet tooth of anyone and loved sharing that with her grandkids. She later blamed all the candy and sweets she had to buy on the kids, but everyone knew the truth. She was an avid reader and loved to find time to crochet blankets for everyone. Her spirit, her laugh and her loving heart are going to be truly missed. Arrangements are being provided by Southern Cremations where there will be a memorial service. The prayer service is being officiated by Deacon Bruce of Saint Joseph’s of Marietta, GA. On October 10th. Visitation will begin at 2:00 in the Columbarium at Cheatham Hill in Marietta, GA. The prayer service will begin at 3:00 and reception to immediately follow, all in the same location.
