Richard E. Taylor Obituary

Richard E. Taylor, 79 of Pittsfield, passed away October 2, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center after a year long battle with throat cancer, with his family by his side.

Born in Pittsfield on October 11, 1941, he was the son of Harry and Helen Muller Taylor.

Mr. Taylor attended Pittsfield Schools. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962.

He was once a self-employed roofing contractor and had also worked for several roofing companies. He had also previously worked at Wal-Mart in maintenance and was a custodian for Pittsfield Public Schools, from which he retired due to having a total knee replacement. He most recently drove for C.R.T. for Blue-Q which he truly bonded with the individuals that he transported, and always looked forward to surprising them with a little gift for each holiday.

Richard enjoyed his daily visits to the Onota Lake causeway to watch the birds and ducks. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan as well as a Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed having Sunday morning breakfast at local diners with his brother-in-law, Butch, that also passed away recently.

He loved his family and made it a point to visit a family member every weekend.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Tina Stewart her husband Michael; sons, Richard E. Taylor, Jr., and Wade S. Taylor. Four brothers, Robert, John, Ernest and Peter (Dawn); and three sisters. Frances Forfa, Martha Ferguson, and Marylou Lefebvre.

Seven grandchildren, Brandi Stewart and Michael Stewart, Jr., as well as, Zsa Zsa Brunelle, Adam Taylor, Tricia Intelisano, Troy Taylor, Brian Harris, Jr. Several great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, with whom he had a great relationship with. He also is survived by his former wife, Cheryl Harrison Hart.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Helen “Pooh” Taylor in 1988; as well as his brothers Charles “Chuck” Taylor and Michael Taylor.
