Eric Ralph Coombs

It is with the great sadness that the family of the late Eric Ralph Coombs announces his passing at the Valley Vista in Springdale, NL on October 7, 2021 at the age of 96 years old. Ralph was a member of the Salvation Army Men’s fellowship and retired from the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in Manitoba. Ralph was a very caring and kind man. He loved his first wife Ruby, and raised a family with her and cared for her until her death. Then he met and married Marjorie, his second wife. They had almost 16 years together before she passed away. He enjoyed being in the kitchen; his pies and buns were his specialties and he enjoyed sharing them with whoever dropped in. For several years he volunteered his cooking skill in the kitchen at the Springdale Salvation Army. Ralph enjoyed the great outdoors - rabbit catching, cutting wood and even just out for a stroll in the woods. He and Marjorie spent much time in their trailer in different parks across the island. When someone got their moose he was always eager to help out with the skinning of the moose. Ralph was never hesitant in sharing his faith story and his understanding of scripture, quite often challenging us on where we stood on different issues. His main goal was to “enter that great eternity”. Ralph will be missed by his friends at both the Valley Vista Cottages and Home. Predeceased by Ruby (first Wife); Marjorie (second Wife); Martha and Stacey (Parents); Lucy, George, Ches, Daisy, Dorothy, Lewis (Siblings) Left with fond and loving memories are: Sons: David (Lorinda) of Springdale, NL Wayne (Pat) of Springdale, NL Terry (Sherry) of Springdale, NL Ken (Grandson) of Campbell River, BC Daughters: Golda (Roy) of Pincher’s Creek, AB Joan (Richard) of The Pas, Manitoba Patt of Calgary, AB Sherri of Winnipeg, Manitoba Also leaving to mourn: Step-Daughters, Golda Kirby and Glenda (Irving) Hale and along with many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-great grandchildren. Rev. Glenda Hale will conduct the Funeral Service at the Springdale Salvation Army Citadel on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 2:30 PM. Interment will be at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sons, David, Wayne and Terry; Chad (Grandson), Reg Coombs (Nephew) and Victor Kelly (Friend) Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.
