Robert Andrew Allan Obituary

We are saddened to share that Robert (Bob) Allan has passed away after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Bob was cherished by his wife, Sharon, of 53 years, his three children, Pat (Rebecca Will), Todd (Jennifer Mitchell-Allan), Heith, and his 11 grandchildren (Mackenzie, Erika, Bailey, Jenna, Emily, Gabriella, Isabella, Keenan, Ethan, Ashlyn, Arianna, and one great-granddaughter, Brielle). Bob’s life was focused on his family, and as with all grandparents, special attention went to the grandchildren. “Bob the Builder” loved wood-working and spent hours in his shop building anything he could think of, but his special knack was for creating cutting boards, which each family member lovingly now cherishes. Bob felt fortunate as in his retirement, he had more work opportunities that he never dreamed of having. Handi-bus Bob operated the towns handi-bus for many years and was very well known for this. He developed many friendships in the community and loved doing it. Bob farmed with Bowdiches, Fergusons, and Wills during seeding and harvest. He loved working on heavy construction sites driving rock trucks, packers, or standing in the rain with a garbage bag as a rain jacket just holding a laser level. After 14-15 hour exhausting days, Bob came home with a bigger grin than what he left with in the morning. He just seemed to never get enough. As his kids were growing up, they spent their summers camping at Greenwater, and even at the end of his life, the lake was one of his favorite places to be. He made many runs up to Deschambault for family fishing trips, where everyone knew that early afternoon meant quiet time so that he could have his afternoon nap in the bottom of the boat. He joked that everyone had to stop catching fish so he could have a nap in peace and quiet. Bob was an active member of the Tisdale Lions Club for over 30 years. He contributed to his community any chance he got. Bob’s friends and family will fondly remember his willingness to get down on the floor to adequately play with grandchildren, his story-telling, his “sweethearts” and “dears”, and never being able to beat him at Kaiser. Any donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke foundation.
