Leon Gilbert Blood Obituary

Leon Gilbert Blood passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at home surrounded by his family, with so much love and of course Monday night football. Leon was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on March 12, 1945 and was raised in Spirit Lake, Idaho as the youngest of 13 children. After graduating from Lakeland High School, he attended college for a short time, worked in Montana and then decided to follow 3 of his older brothers and enlisted in the Air Force and he served in the Vietnam War. After returning from the service, he met and married Laurel Jean Blood on September 11, 1970 and was blessed with two wonderful children, Troy and Tonya. He went back to college and earned his degree in accounting from University of Idaho. Upon graduation he went to work for Magneson & McHugh. After several years with the company, he left and opened his own practice in 1979. He continued to work until Jesus called him home to help him out with some tax issues. Leon lived life as if there was no tomorrow, always making any task a party. He will always be remembered for his generosity and the jokes he was always ready to share with everyone he came across. He loved to golf and was always quick to take you up on a good bet. He spent many days on the water fishing with his family. Over the years after his accident, which left him paralyzed, he developed a deep love for watching and placing bets with his son on baseball and football games. Leon was preceded in death by his parents Phil & Sadie Blood, four brothers, Jack, Phil, Dallas, and Clyde and five sisters, Margaret Jobes, Lorena Hauck, Bernice LaClaire, Marion Smith, and Phyllis Low. He is survived by the love of his life, Laurel Blood; children, Troy (Brenda) Blood and Tonya Freeman; grandchildren, Peyton Blood, Isaiah Freeman, and Makenah Freeman; brother, Virgil (Vivian) Blood; sisters, Patsy Budd and Gladys Storasli. An open celebration of life will be held at Avondale Golf Course on Saturday, November 6, 2021 starting at 2:00 P.M. Please join us in telling stories, jokes and celebrating the life of Leon Blood.
