"Loving Wife, Mother & Nanny" Waynesville, Iva Lee Phillips, age 83, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County she was the daughter of the late Ephrion Hilliard and Nellie Sutton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Phillips, who died in 2003; a son, Peanut Phillips; and grandson, Rodney Phillips; and great-great granddaughter, Alexia Reece. Iva Lee was a loving wife, mother and nanny. She will always be remembered for her amazing biscuits, and always providing a helping hand with children. Iva Lee is survived by her daughter, Patricia Phillips Waters (David), of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; two sons, Luther Phillips and Donnie Phillips (Lynne), of Waynesville; two sisters, Genella Tomlin, and Martha Thompson; a brother, Dayton Sutton, all of Millville, New Jersey; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the funeral home.
