Garry (Buck) Fluker Obituary

Garry, better known as Buck Fluker, of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, passed away September 29, 2021, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He was born on September 27, 1946 at Cartwright, Manitoba to Archie and Gertrude Fluker. Buck grew up on the family farm and loved every minute of it, he loved the cows and his horses and spending time with his siblings. At the age of 17 he decided to leave the farm and take on the world. This decision took him to Golden, British Columbia to work in a lumber mill, Northern Manitoba to a mine, and a lot of other various jobs until the mid 60’s, when he got a job on the drilling rigs and worked in Alberta and all of Southern Saskatchewan. While working in the Shaunavon area he met Clara Hill and they were married August 7, 1971. Buck quit the rigs and got a job running Heavy Equipment and other duties, when his first son Byron was born on February 7, 1972. They welcomed their second son Bradley on October 29th, 1975. While Buck continued to work in the oilfield, Buck and Clara decided to purchase Kleen Rite Dry Cleaners and operated it for 19 years. In 1986, Buck started his own business, Buck’s Construction, doing his own dirt work. As his boys grew older and graduated from school, they joined the company and expanded it to what it is today. Buck was proud as numerous grandchildren joined to work in the family business. In 1990, Buck got back to his roots and began his lifelong dream, purchasing his first half section of farmland. In 1995, he and Clara moved to the farm. With the help of his boys and Clara, they expanded the farm base and bought cattle and some of his favorite childhood toys, a team of horses. Buck was predeceased by his parents Archie and Gertrude Fluker, father and mother-in-law, Alice and Manley Hill, brothers-in-law, Oren Billings, Bob Hogg, and Walter Hill, nephew Ronnie Fluker, nieces Kathy Vandenberghe and Amy Hill. Left to mourn is his wife of 50 years, Clara Fluker; son Byron (Laurie), granddaughter Breanna (Dallas), great-grandsons Ryden and Deklyn, granddaughters Brittney (Tanner), Brooklyn, Kiana, great-granddaughter Emma, Kirsten (Jacob) great-grandson Colt, and granddaughter Madison (Max); son Brad (Melissa), grandsons Clay (Ashley), Lane, Paysen, and granddaughters Makenna (Tyson) and Bristol; sisters and brothers Carol, Joanne, Jim, Larry, Debbie, Brenda, Norma, spouses, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Buck’s life was held at his farm, 6 miles South of Shaunavon, Range Road 72, and 3.5 miles west in his Quonset on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.. For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to Deklyn Fluker Medical Fund in care of Binkley’s Funeral Service, 306-297-2412.
