Francine Louise Freitag Glendale, Arizona Obituary

Francine Louise Freitag

It is with deep sadness and profound love that the family of Francine Freitag, of Desert Hills, AZ, would like to announce her passing on September 26, 2021. She passed away peacefully, as she had wished, at her home with her family by her side. Francine was born to the late Charles and Antoinette (Toots) Nichols on April 27, 1946, in Queens, New York. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Brooklyn, NY in 1963. After high school, Francine married Robert Freitag. Over the next two decades, Francine and Rob together raised their three sons, Erik, Chris, and Adam. During that time, Francine graduated from LaGuardia College with a degree in Secretarial Sciences having attained a 4.0 grade point average. She later attained her real estate license and became a Real Estate Broker in New York until 1992. It was at that time that Francine decided to move to Arizona and permanently make it her new home. After settling in Arizona, she transitioned to a new career as a Real Estate Mortgage Loan Officer. She enjoyed her new career and was successful until she decided to retire in approximately 2016. Francine wanted to spend more time with family and friends, and to begin her next burgeoning career - a burning love for writing. She married Wolfgang Seuling in 2011 in Winslow, AZ (and yes, they were standing on the corner), and they lived together in New River for over twenty years. Francine (lovingly known to many as Pixie) was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Charles and Michael. She is survived by her husband Wolf and her three children: Erik Freitag, of Desert Hills, AZ; Christopher Freitag (Doreen), of Summerville, SC; and Adam Freitag (Lisa), of Parsippany, NJ, as well as five grandchildren (Elias, Nicolas, Samantha, Thomas, and Katiya) and her first great-grandchild (Raylan); her sister Toni (Larry) Sherling and her brother Billy Nichols; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a multitude of lifelong friends. Francine very much loved her life in Arizona, and she particularly enjoyed horseback riding, camping, travelling, reading, and her newfound passion of writing. However, Francine was most happy at her home, which she and Wolf lovingly built over their life together to reflect the peacefulness, tranquility, and serenity that she so cherished. Most of all, Mom/Grandma Pixie was immensely proud of her family, and she leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepard Catholic Mission, N. 12th Street, New River, AZ. Interment of ashes will take place on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the compassionate and tender care that Francine received from Father Jim Starbuck and from Arizona Sunset Hospice in her final weeks. Francine always believed in helping others, and the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Smile Train (donate.smiletrain.org) or to the Foothills Food Bank (foothillsfoodbank.com) in her memory.
