Dennis K. Hurt Obituary

Dennis K. Hurt was welcomed into his Jesus’s arms on September 27, 2021.  He was born on January 7, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri.  He graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1960.  He married the love of his life, Carol J. Moegle, on April 8,1961.  Dennis was a proud employee of Anheuser Busch from 1963 until retirement in 1999.

When not spending time with family, Dennis enjoyed singing in the church choir, the Anheuser Busch Choir, and New Life praise band.  He spent his creative hours working on stained glass, hooking rugs and more recently, doing adult coloring books.  He loved watching Cardinal baseball and Green Bay Packer football.  He spent countless hours reading a multitude of books on the Civil War and often served as a resource for his grandchildren’s research papers for school.  His greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his five grandchildren.  Dennis was a devoted husband for over 50 years.  He was a loving father and grandfather.  He cherished many close friends and enjoyed their travels and time together.  His ultimate treasure was his faith in Jesus.  Dennis served his Lord faithfully and modeled his faith as he raised his entire family in Jesus.

Dennis is survived by his three children Kevin Hurt and wife Susan, Kelly Thews and husband Dan, Amy Randolph and husband Dennis; grandchildren Ian (Amarie) Hurt, Colin Hurt, Kylie Thews, Kami Thews, Jordan (Sarah) Hurt, brother Richard (Zona) Hurt, sister Sharon (Charles) Groeteke, and several nieces and nephews.  Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol, and his mother and father.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 500 Meramec Blvd., Eureka, Missouri.  Visitation will be at the church Friday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service.

The family would like to thank Sharon and Charles Groeteke and Sarah Hurlburt for providing a home and loving care during the last several years.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be given to the City of Arnold Parks, 2101 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, MO  63010.
