In Loving Memory of
Götz Moehl
May 21, 1941 – September 19, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Götz (Gus) Moehl of Port Hardy, BC. He passed peacefully on September 19, 2021, under the excellent care of the doctors and nurses at the Port Hardy Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbel (Barb) Moehl, his son Heiko and daughter Katja (Jay Doucette), his grandsons, Matius Moehl and Nathan Leyte, and his brother Lutz (Uscha). He is also survived by cousins, nephews and nieces overseas.

Götz found the love of his life in Cape Town, South Africa where his best memories were made. They moved to Swakopmund, Namibia to start their family. Port Hardy, BC became their home where they raised their children and put down roots.

His life was well lived, travelling and working around the world. From Germany to South Africa, Australia to Sweden, Malaysia to Siberia, he took great pride in his career which started at Mercedes Benz. He worked at Island Copper Mine, BHP-Utah Mines Ltd in Port Hardy until the mine closed in 1997. After retirement he supported his car restoration habit by driving taxi where he made many friends throughout the community.

His hard-working hands told the story of his life. When not seen behind the wheel, he will be remembered walking hand in hand with his wife. His kind heart led him to help anyone who was in need; whether your engine had a knock or you needed a ride home, he was your man. He will be terribly missed.
