Patricia S. Stott Obituary

Patricia Scheirer Stott, of 32 Prospect Street in Norwich, NY, was born on August 17, 1930 in Allentown, PA, and passed away on September 25, 2021. She was the daughter of Dorothy Schubert and Earl Scheirer. Graduating from Allentown High School, home of the Canaries, in 1948, she enjoyed playing violin with the All State Orchestra under the direction of Donald Vorhies. Also, wanting to be in the marching band, she successfully convinced the director that she and her friends would be the perfect flag bearers for the band. In 1952, Patricia graduated from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, and then went on to teach school in Wilson Borough, Easton PA. On June 13, 1953 she married Muhlenberg graduate, Richard Volk Stott, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Allentown, PA. Once married, Patricia and Richard moved to Drexel Hill near Philadelphia where Patricia taught school in East Landsdowne while Richard attended Wharton Graduate School of Business and Finance. Their next stop was Norwich, in 1954. Finally making it out of Pennsylvania, Patricia became a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She served on the church council for several years and served as treasurer. In addition, she was a member of the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Norwich Garden Club, and was the publicity chairman for both organizations. Over the years, Patricia enjoyed playing golf, gardening, enjoying bridge, traveling to the Caribbean, Europe and Asia, relaxing at their cottage on Greencastle Lake in McDonough, practicing the piano and the violin, knitting, visiting her family in Pennsylvania, and being snowbirds in Venice, Florida. When at their condo in Venice, they attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church where Patsy and Richard served as ushers. Patricia is survived by her husband, children, grandchild, and three cousins: Paul and Debbie Harkins, as well as Warren Bentzen. Her son Eric Stott resides in Albany, NY and daughter Lisa and husband, David Lorch, live in Meredith, NH. Her grandchild, Zachary David Lorch, calls Merrimack, NH his home with his wife Courtney. A memorial service for Patricia will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Christ Lutheran Church, in Norwich, where Rev. Laura Wade, pastor, will officiate. The church respectfully asks that those attending wear masks. Burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to Christ Lutheran Church, 94 North Main Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
