Mr. James D. “Jimmy” Dixon, Jr., 51, died Thursday (September 23, 2021) at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick, GA after an extended illness. He was a native and lived most of his life in Jacksonville, FL, but he spent the last 20 years in Waycross. Jimmy was currently employed by CSX Railroad, and he was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, James D. Dixon, Sr.; sister, April Dixon Rodriguez; paternal grandparents, Rev. E. E. Dixon and Ivy Lee Dixon; and numerous aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Lee Dixon of Waycross; two sons, Cameron Dixon (Melissa) of Hoboken, and Storm Dixon of Waycross; grandsons, Matthew and Asher Dixon; his parents, Diane Heath Kent (Warren) of Jacksonville, FL; siblings, Allen Kent (Lynn) and Michelle Liakakis (Toney) both of Savannah; brother-in-law, Ray Rodriguez of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, and nephews, Gavin, Holden, Evan, Gabby, Miles, Brianna, Courtney, Alaina, Walker and Jaxon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy and Barbara Lee of Waycross; and numerous other family members. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (October 2, 2021) at Hoboken Baptist Church. A private family burial will be held in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church beginning at 1 p.m. The family would also like to invite friends and family to visit with them after the burial at the Hoboken Baptist Church social hall on Saturday.
