Roy Guy Miller Obituary

Roy Guy Miller, 89, of Macon, Georgia, took his last peaceful breath on earth at his home on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, before running, healed, into the arms of his Savior. Roy was born in Macon, Georgia, on September 1, 1932, to Guy Everett Miller and Nellie Lois Gilleland Miller. The eldest son of six children, he spent his childhood jumping into swimming holes, fishing, and tinkering with anything he could find with his friends. Roy attended Lanier High School in Macon and joined the United States Air Force during his senior year. He was proud of his service to his country and loved to share stories of his adventures in England during his time of service with the Strategic Air Command. Upon returning home, Roy met the love of his life and best friend, Margaret Miller. Roy and Margaret were married on Thanksgiving Day on November 22,1956, and have been inseparable since. Together they raised three children and loved two grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was a devoted father and proud grandaddy, and he adored his grandchildren and great-grandson. Roy was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a godly man who loved and faithfully served his Savior. His favorite pastimes were working in his workshop, playing with his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife, Margaret. Roy was a talented woodworker and made many beautiful wooden bowls, vases, and other gifts for his family and friends. Some of his favorite travel memories included going on cruises to the Caribbean, taking cross-country road trips, and visiting England, Scotland, and Ireland. Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Miller, his three children, Kim Elkins (Randy Doyl), Angie Cook (Joe), David Miller (Penni), two grandchildren, Mary-Margaret Williams (Garrett) and Allen Miller, great-grandson, Ellis Williams, sisters Gerry Glenn (Vernon), Janet Bowden, and Sadie Bledsoe, brother Ray Miller (Rachel), and many loving friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Guy and Nellie Miller, brother, Mike Miller, and two infant children. Graveside services for Roy will be at Macon Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM.
