Flora E. Collins Birmingham, 104, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at 1:20 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Avalon Springs Health Center, Valparaiso. She was born October 13, 1916, in Dixon, Illinois, to Wilson and Elizabeth (Shafer) Kohlbaugh. During the years, Flora worked as a waitress. She was also employed as a telephone operator for General Bell Telephone Company and worked at McGill Electric. Flora enjoyed crocheting, bowling, fishing and giving home made goods to her friends. Flora was an avid fishing and hunting buddy with her late husband, Andrew A. Collins and their many friends. She was a member of the Ladies Legion Aux. for American Legion Post #94 and Women of the Moose for the Loyal Order of Moose - Lodge #1357, Valparaiso. She is survived by her nephew, James (Linda) Schoelkopf of Plano, TX; and cousins in Burlington, Iowa. Preceding her in death were her parents; late husband, Andrew A. Collins; and late husband, William Birmingham. Per her requests, there will be no visitation or services. She will be entombed in the Graceland Cemetery Mausoleum aside of her dear husband, William Birmingham. Sunset Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
