Anthony (Tony) L. Cerreta Obituary

Anthony (Tony) L. Cerreta, age 96, formerly of Suwanee, GA passed away peacefully on September 14, 2021 after a brief illness. Tony was a first generation American, born in Canton Ohio in 1925. His parents immigrated from Italy in the early 20’s. He served in the United States Navy in World War II on the destroyer, USS Burns (DD-588). Tony saw significant combat in the South Pacific and received a Purple Heart for direct combat wounds. He later graduated from Ohio University where he was a 3-sport athlete. He enjoyed a successful sales career of 40+ years, moving to Atlanta in 1973 to serve as Division Sales Manager and later as Regional Sales Manager and Director of U.S. Military Sales Worldwide for Tetley Tea. Tony was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. His greatest joy in life was his family. He loved family gatherings and planned many family reunions. He enjoyed playing golf well into his 90’s, was a die-hard UGA fan and season ticket holder, loved tailgating in Athens, the Atlanta Braves, and hosting Super Bowl parties. In his later years, he was an active member of The Catholic Church of St. Monica’s, serving as a founding member of the 55+ Club, the Men’s Club, the Fall Festival, Christmas tree sales, and other key programs. Tony enjoyed life. He looked forward to every day and was blessed with a life of good health. He is survived by Donna, his wife of 68 years, his daughter Cheryl (and Ron), his son Craig (and Carole), their extended families, and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.
