New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Meagan Elaine Derouen, 37, who passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A native and lifelong area resident, Meagan was born on December 25, 1983 in Lafayette. She loved being a mother and also writing and singing. She is survived by her mother, Monique W. Derouen; her children, Tucker M. Gary, Chase A. Gary, and Julianna G. Gary; brother, Matthew Derouen; grandmother, Emma Babineaux Waguespack; stepmother, Roxie LeBlanc Derouen; former spouse and father of her children, Kevin Gary; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Minos Joseph "Joey" Derouen, Jr.; grandparents, Minos Sr. and Deloria David Derouen, and Deacon Kenneth P. Waguespack. Pallbearers will be Matthew Derouen, Tucker Gary, Chase Gary, Joey Waguespack, Kenny Waguespack, and John Sikes.
