Donna Clair Jackson South Jordan, Utah Obituary

Donna Clair Jackson

Donna Clair Jackson, a keeper of memories, collector of books, and the very definition of a “real class act” passed away Saturday September 18th 2021. Donna was born December 1st 1932 to Paul and Connie Bergstrom, she and her younger brother Jack completed the Bergstrom family. Donna was popular in school, always well liked and well thought of, a trait which would follow her throughout her life. During her school days at Oakwood, Donna was selected by her peers to reign as the ‘Queen of May’, she was featured in the Salt Lake Tribune in May 1946. Donna took her title seriously, ultimately deciding May wasn’t nearly long enough, and insisting to be “waited on hand and foot” throughout her life. Donna’s brother was instrumental in her meeting her future husband, Gene Robertson. The Bergstrom bother/sister duo dated and married the Robertson brother/sister duo, Gene and Shirley. (Seriously… the cousins look like siblings) Donna and Gene were married December 16th 1951, and together shared four children, Ronnie, Shelly, Ricky, and Randy. They remained partners until Gene’s passing in February 1981. During the summer of 1983 Donna took another walk down the aisle, marrying Morris E. Jackson, (Jack) they traveled together and shared many happy memories before his death in November, 1990. For over 30 years Donna worked as a telephone operator for the University of Utah hospital, she developed a rapport with the doctors, nurses, and her coworkers alike. She made many lifelong friends, her retirement in 2003 was met with a bit of heartbreak, no one ever wanted to see Donna (DJ) go. Donna loved long walks, British comedies, several reincarnation’s of her bird “Barrymore” her precious cat “Baby Poop” and reading any historical or biography book she could get her hands on. Donna craved knowledge, her book collection could rival a public library. Donna insisted any books gifted to her be signed and dated by the gift giver. This was also true for cards, and photos. Donna was a memory keeper, mementos from her family and friends were priceless possessions. Donna was full of strength, wit and wisdom; as a recovering alcoholic who maintained her sobriety for 56 years she was always ready and willing to share what she had learned. Our favorites among them, “Don’t wear it if it’s not real” “Be sure to put lotion on your neck and elbows.” “Be a good girl/boy.” “Remember you’re a class act.” and “Keep your knickers on!” We invite you to celebrate Donna, to view her memories and take any keepsakes shared throughout her life. Donna has tasked us all with becoming her memory keepers, and to “Soldier on!” A visitation will be held Friday September 24th from 10:30-12pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 West South Jordan Pkwy. Graveside services will follow at Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, Utah
