Catherine "Cathy" Rosina Bowser Obituary

Catherine (Cathy) Rosina Bowser, 87, of Worthington, Pa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the comfort of her home of 30 years.  She is survived by her five daughters: Vicki and Stephen Driggs of Malta, Ohio; Karen and Pete Gallo of Freeport, Pa; Debra and Wayne Judd of Hodges, South Carolina; Rhonda Ashe of Kittanning, Pa; Paula and Fred Henry of Kittanning, Pa; and one son, Jim and Rainie Bowser of Hodges, South Carolina; In-laws, Gloria and Bob Bywra, Martha Wible, Rose McElfresh, Donna Bowser, and Ron and Barb Bowser.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ross D. Bowser in 2018, her mother, Pearl Schmela and her five siblings.  She will be warmly remembered by her 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and 8 great-great grandchildren with a cheerful and bright smile on her face.

Born on September 6, 1934, Cathy lived a long and happy life with her husband of 65 years. Prior to her tenure at Moonlight Mushroom Farm, where she was known lovingly as “hot lips” for her love of wearing red lipstick, she and her husband owned Slagles Meat Packing where she worked alongside him for many years. She enjoyed traveling the country with Ross after their children were grown, spending time with her many family members, reading romance novels, gardening, playing bingo at the Senior Center, making candies with her grandchildren for the holidays and watching the hummingbirds in the summertime. Cathy was a proud parishioner of Cornerstone Assembly of God in Kittanning as well as a long time member of the American Legion Post 828. After Cathy’s husband passed, her granddaughter, Jessica, became her live in caregiver.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. with funeral service to immediately follow at 6 p.m. at The Cornerstone Assembly of God, 117 Woodland Drive, Kittanning, Pa 16201.  "When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see; if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too. So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right here, in your heart.” -David Romano
