<p>Charles Robert “Bob” Newman, 83 of East Ridge, passed away Friday, September 17th, 2021 in a local healthcare facility.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Bob was born and raised in the Chattanooga area and graduated in the 1956 class of City High School. He was a proud US Army veteran and was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church. Bob retired after many years working for Hamilton County. He loved to craft especially making Native American jewelry. Bob was well known in the Native community as “Whitewolf” and was the master of ceremonies of many “Pow Wow’s” over the years. &nbsp;He also enjoyed reading Louis Lamoure western novels. Bob was a very kind hearted person who was loved by all who knew him and had a very special loving relationship with his daughter, Kelly.&nbsp; He was fun loving, loved life, and never met a stranger. Bob is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert Allen Darwin; grandson, Michael Shelton Alexander II; and parents, J.L. and Marie Newman; and brother, Burl (Maria) Newman.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sara May Newman; daughter, Kelly (Mike Shelton) Alexander; granddaughter, Rebekah A. (Michael Brian) Harvey; three great grandsons, Michael Peyton, Will, and Brooks; sister-in-law, Patricia May(Jim Duncan) Snyder and their children: Cindy, Christy, and Chip; and very special friends: Jim and&nbsp; Jean Morrison, Jackie and Vickie Walden (Jackie was like a brother to Bob).</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Due to the pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Condolences may be shared at lane-southcrestchapel.com</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home &amp; Crematory, Rossville.</p>
