Paul Pearson

Paul Dean Pearson of Homedale, Idaho, passed away September 19, 2021, at the age of 68 to pancreatic cancer; just 18 days after diagnosis. At the time of his passing, he was at home surrounded by many family members. Paul was born on Friday the 13th, in March of 1953 in Preston, Idaho to Dean Lars Pearson and Harriet Jensen Pearson Ezola. At the age of 4, Paul and his family moved from Trenton, Utah to Homedale, Idaho. He attended school at Homedale Elementary until 1960 when his mother and the four boys moved back to Trenton following the unfortunate passing of his father, Dean. After returning to Utah, the boys and Harriet chose Sheridan Ezola to share the rest of their lives with and the family returned to Homedale. Paul was an extraordinary athlete and an excellent sportsman from an early age. He played little league baseball during summer, went fishing every chance he could, and spent plenty of fall days hunting for whatever bird was in season. When Paul entered high school, he participated in football, basketball, track, and was a coach’s dream. As a freshman in 1967, Paul was on the varsity football team with his 2 older brothers. In Paul’s high school athletic career, he was featured in a high school sports magazine, held long-standing records in track, and played in three championship basketball games earning 2nd place in 1967 and sweeping the championship in 1969. After graduating high school in 1971, Paul attended BYU on a football scholarship. He played for one season but quickly learned that college was not for him. He was ready to return home to his mom’s cooking and spend more time with his buddies. Paul spent a lot of time hunting and fishing throughout Idaho and Oregon. It was in Jordan Valley, Oregon where he met Brenda Nichols. They were married in July of 1973. They purchased a house in Homedale where Paul worked for the city. A few years later, they found a home with acreage on the outskirts of Homedale where he could have a small farm, a large garden, and enjoy the abundant wildlife. Paul worked for the city of Homedale for 9 years, then began working for G & B Ready Mix in Nampa until he retired in March of 2020. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who spent most of his free time hunting, trapping or fishing. Paul is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda. Children: Eric (Malina) Pearson, Jocelyn (Bill) Patchett, and Alisa (Jimmy) Whisenhunt. Grandchildren: Kathleen, Cole (Madison), Kaylee (Houston), Riley, Jacinta, Madalyn, Amaya, Hailey, and AJ. Great-grandchildren: Waillon, DJ, Harley, and Presley. Step-dad: Sheridan. Siblings: Blaine (Rena) Pearson, Mike (Terri) Pearson, Gerald Pearson, Mary Ann Adams, and Julie (Robert) Hyde. He is preceded in death by his dad, Dean Lars Pearson, mom, Harriet Pearson Ezola, Father-in-Law, Clyde Nichols, and Niece Molly Clare Nichols. Paul was a quiet, humble man who spoke few words but touched many lives.
