Mother Christeen Thorpe Obituary

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”

   -II Timothy 4:7

Mother Christeen McRae Thorpe was born on December 10, 1953, to the late James D. McRae and Etta M. Mcrae- Clark in Alamo, GA (Wheeler County). On September 17, 2021, Mrs. Christeen McRae Thorpe was called home to the Lord after peacefully transitioning at her home.

After being educated in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System, Christeen became known for her extraordinary decorating skills. Even though she was known to decorate for her family and friends, Christeens’ talents took her to new and greater heights as she decorated for Paula Dean, appeared on the set of the Oprah Winfrey show, decorated countless hotels and inns, and had high-profile clients, including those overseas.

Mother Christeen may not be here physically; her love and memories will be forever cherished by those who have encountered her.

Christeen was preceded in death by her parents, James David” Bunk” McRae Sr. and Etta M. Clark-McRae, one brother Charlie McRae Sr., two sisters Mary Alice and Diana McRae.

Left to cherish her fond memories are her husband, Elijah Thorpe, her children Janet Maynor (Nicole), Darrell Mcrae (Betty), Alethia Washington, Jemara Williams, Niaechia Hayes and Elishia Washington. Five Brothers; Anthony McRae (Elizabeth) of Hinesville, GA, Wayne McRae (Barbra), JD McRae (Fatima), Donald McRae and Gordon McRae. One sister, Mary Etta (Eugene) and sister-in-law Leila McRae. She also leaves a host of grands, great grands, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
