Obituary Margaret A Coursey Margaret A. Coursey was born November 21, 1932 in Sorghum, Ky. to Janie and Roger Johnson. She peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on September 16, 2021. Margaret received her high school diploma at Attucks High School in Hopkinsville, Ky. Margaret played basketball and was also a cheerleader in high school. Her two best friends were Betty Brooks and Mattie Herring. Margaret would catch the train to go off to college every year. She graduated from Kentucky State University in 1954 with a B.S. degree in Physical Education, with an emphasis on Special Education. Margaret married Irvin A. Coursey on June 4, 1955. Of this union was born 3 children; Renate, Pamela and Holly. Irvin was in the Army, so they traveled around. Some of the places they moved to were Germany, Texas, Kentucky and Alabama. Margaret visited many other states to see family members. Margaret loved the Lord and was very active in her church, Israel United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, a Member of the Women’s Society and Care Team. A faithful servant and cook for Israel U.M. Church. Margaret was a school teacher for 25 years and retired from Sussex Tech. Consortium on June 30, 1998. Some of her hobbies included; her love to collect recipes, her love to put together puzzles, her love to collect glass chickens and snow globes but most of all she loved to play scrabble. Her love was to feed everyone who walked thru the door. She leaves cherished love with her husband, Irvin A. Coursey of 66 years, three daughters; Renate Coursey, Pamela (Troy) Hazzard, Holly Coursey; four grandchildren; Brittany Hazzard, BreAshia Hazzard Hazell (Devlin), Desmond Coursey, Troy (L.T.) Hazzard; three great grandchildren, Jordan Thomas Jr., Jada Thomas and Azuri Hazell; godson, Ronald Burton Jr. (Dude); and a host of loving cousins, friends and family members.
