Nashville, MI Susan Beth Aiken Susan Beth Aiken, age 73, of Nashville, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 14th, at her home. Susan was born in Freemont, MI on September 11, 1948, the daughter of the late Sally (Rhoades) and Bob Dean. Susan was raised in the Hart area and attended local schools graduating from Hart High School. After she was married, Susan devoted her attention to raising her three daughters, and helping run the family farm. In 1991 Susan embraced a new direction in her life and enrolled at Kellogg Community College where she studied Accounting. Her passion for education began to grow, and she graduated with her Bachelor Degree in Arts & Science with a Public Relations Administration emphasis from Sienna Heights University. While she was enrolled at KCC Susan accepted a position assisting students with the college as well as helping with resume' preparation for graduating students. Her employment evolved through the years, with Susan eventually becoming the secretary for the EMS Department where she assisted with the certification and re-certification process for local fire & police departments. Her tenure at KCC spanned over 15 years before she retired in 2012. Susan loved to be outdoors enjoying the warmer weather working in her gardens. Her devotion to learning extended beyond her occupation, and could be seen in the quality of her gardening. She enjoyed taking Horticulture and Gardening classes through KCC, Leila Arboretum Society in Battle Creek, and Southern Exposure. Her passion for gardening and her search of knowledge led to her certification as a Master Gardener. Susan is survived by her three daughters, Robin, (Chris) Silverman, Jody,(Tim) Tyler Teresa, (Bob) Allen, three sisters, Nancy, (Mike) Tate, Deb Dean, Denise Jeffries three brothers, Bob,(Char) Dean, Gary, (Ricki) Dean, Larry(Jan) Dean, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren A celebration of Susan's life will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 2nd at Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to: KCC Foundation For The Susan B.
