Betty Wilcox Obituary

On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, due to illness, Betty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born in Pine River Township to Walfred and Susie Norman. As a child, she moved to Minneapolis where she attended and graduated high school. Later moving to Brainerd, Betty worked a number of years at both garment factories as a supervisor until she started at the State Hospital in 1980, where she worked for 20 years as a CNA /HST before retiring in 2000.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rod Wilcox; sister-in-law, Sandy Norman; three children, Meryl Alters Jr., Kathy Alters and Robert “Gus” (Mary) Alters; four grandchildren, Susie (Andy) Eller and Stormie Eller. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walfred Norman and Susie (Norman) Legat; siblings, Lois Hasty, Bill Norman and Ronnie Norman.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Betty had a passion for traveling, fishing, gardening, cooking and canning. Betty loved watching Wheel of Fortune and old-time westerns.

She was a Golden Eagle at the Eagles Club in Brainerd since 1989 and enjoyed both volunteering and gathering there with friends. Betty touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.
