Matthew Curtis Thompson, 56, a native of Cumming, Ga passed away Wednesday, September 15th, 2021. Matt was an avid Nascar, Georgia Bulldogs, and Falcons fan, but his favorite sports pastime was watching his daughter, Mandy, grow up playing softball. He loved to cook BBQ on his Big Green Egg for family and friends to enjoy. He was a brilliant machinist and loved to talk with anyone about his passion for engines and making cars go fast. Matt was a proud business owner of Thompson Performance Racing. He was a member of First Christian Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Thompson, aunt & uncle Jane & Gene Chambers. Survivors include his daughter, Mandy Thompson; Mother, Barbara Brooks Thompson; Brother and Sister-in-law, Clint and Gina Thompson; former Wife and Mother of his child, Jill Talley Sams; Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Joe Brooks; Aunt and Uncle, Faye and Andrew Thompson; former Sister and Brother-in-laws, Tracey and Jeff Compton and Connie and Mike Nix; former Mother and Father-in-law Sara and Brice Talley; special friend, Gladys Kimbrell, and many other beloved family members and friends. Graveside funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday September 18, 2021 at Sawnee View Gardens with Pastor Stan Percival officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Canvas Christian Church in honor of Matt Thompson serving outreach ministries. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
