Charles Mooney, 69, of Morris Plains, NJ passed away peacefully on September 9, 2021, at Morristown Medical Center. Charles was born on December 22, 1951, in New York, NY to the late Charles P. and Margaret (McNiff) Mooney. He grew up in Montville, NJ and lived there for many years before his health started to fail him, eventually moving to Morris View Healthcare Center ten years ago. When he was younger, Charles was a very hard worker and skilled welder. He had a passion for music. Whether it was singing and playing the organ, or just kicking back and listening to some good old' oldies and Willie Nelson, music brought him joy. Charles was quick witted, charismatic and could make anyone laugh hysterically. He was also an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees Fan. His favorite athlete was the captain, #2, Derek Jeter. He is survived by his loving sister, Patricia Desiderio; and three cherished nephews, Shaun Desiderio, Justin Desiderio, and Christopher Marks. He was predeceased by his before mentioned parents; dear sister, Margaret Mooney; and beloved uncle, John McNiff. Charles's Life Celebration will include a memorial gathering on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 11am – 12noon at St. Lawrence Church, 375 Main St., Chester, NJ 07930, with a Funeral Mass beginning at 12noon. Interment will be held privately by his family.
