Richard Alan Stansel Obituary

Richard “Rick” Alan Stansel, 47, of Freeport, passed away on September 11th in Houston. Rick was born on February 6th, 1974 in Bell County to Garland David Stansel and Vicki Lancon. Rick spent most of his life on the water as a fisherman and boat captain who loved to share his knowledge with anyone who asked. When he wasn’t fishing, you could find him barbecuing or watching sports. Rick is preceded in death by his brother Brandon Stansel and uncle Wayne Stansel. Left to cherish his memories are his children; daughter Jasea Stansel, sons Trenton and Jarrett Stansel, parents: David Stansel and Vicki Lancon, grandparents: Garland and Melba Stansel, brother: Caleb Stansel, and numerous other family members and friends. At Rick’s request, there will not be a memorial service as his final wish was to have his ashes spread on the beach. “I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me, so put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole, for I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole. Where every day is a day to fish, to fill your heart with every wish. Don’t worry, or feel sad for me, I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea. We will miss each other for a while, but you will come and bring your smile. That won’t be long you will see, till we’re together you and me. To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I’m missin’, just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’.”
