James F. Preuss Sr.

<p>Preuss &ndash; James F. Sr., &ldquo;Gym&rdquo;, 93, East Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2021. Born on April 24, 1928 in Johnstown, son of John and Mildred Preuss. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa A. (Biss) Preuss; loving son, Michael, and brother, John B. Preuss. He is survived by his lovingchildren, Mary Ann Hinterliter, East Conemaugh, and James F. Jr. (Theresa A.) Preuss, East Conemaugh; daughter-in-law, Ruth Preuss, Richland; grandchildren, Nickie Mitchell, Brad Hinterliter, Michael, Christopher, James M. and Jason Preuss, Missa Lucio, and Jessica Plummer; 14 great grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Horner, NC; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Seschok) Preuss, Cleveland, OH; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. James was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration, where he loved volunteering for his church and was a Eucharistic Minister. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Company. James was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Navy on Aircraft Carrier USS Leyte CV32. He retired after 36 years of service from US Steel, Johnstown Works and 5 years at Johnstown Corp. James enjoyed going to the Senior Center, talking with his many friends, watching Penguins Hockey on TV, as well as sitting on his swing with his late wife and friend, John Skrodinsky. He loved watching his children and grandkids play sports. James&rsquo;s family would like to thank Conemaugh Hospice Nurses and Pastor Scott at the Richland HCRC for their loving care. At James request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church of the Transfiguration, Fr. Robert C. Hall, Pastor. Committal will be at Assumption Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh. Contributions be directed to the Church of the Transfiguration, 340 Second Street, Conemaugh, PA 15909 in memory of James. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.</p>
