Joyce Slaathaug
Joyce Slaathaug, 81, of Nampa, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Joyce was born on May 9, 1940 in Boise, to Major Glen and Mary Jane Atkin. She graduated from Boise High School in 1958. She married Gary Slaathaug in 1960. The couple had five children: Annette, Connie, Philip, Eric and Dayn. Following her divorce from Gary Slaathaug in 1992, Joyce met and lived many happy years with Gary Parrott. Joyce had an irreverent sense of humor and loved her pack of rambunctious and somewhat unruly children. She loved the mountains near Grimes Creek, Centerville and Placerville. Riding a horse and immersing herself in the peacefulness of nature was her way of renewing her spirit. She was a fiercely strong and independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She was quick with a smile and a hug for her family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by longtime partner, Gary Parrott, her children: Annette (Bob), Connie (Tim), Philip and Dayn (Jamie), five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sisters and her son, Eric. At Joyce’s request there will be no memorial service and her ashes will be spread in the mountains she loved.May 9, 1940 - September 14, 202105/09/194009/14/2021
