<p id="descr" class="show-read-more" itemprop="description"> Gary Lee Walker, age 68, of Pocahontas, IL passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at his home. A Celebration of Life remembrance service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Childrens Hospitals.<br/><br/>Gary was born on December 11, 1950 in Highland, IL to William Henry and Marie (Nobbe) Walker. He married Kay Swofford on October 16, 1971 in Pocahontas, IL. He is survived by his wife, Kay of Pocahontas, IL; sons: Christopher (Angela) Walker of St. Louis, MO and Chad (Mara) Walker of Milwaukee, WI; brothers: Larry (Marilyn) Walker of Fredricksburg, VA and Richard Walker of St. Louis, MO; sister, Sandra (John) Rajaski of Frederick, MD; and grandson, Anderson Walker.<br/><br/>Gary grew up in Greenville and was raised on the Red Ball Trail farm, attended Greenville schools and graduated from Greenville High School. He attended SIUE while working at IDOT. He worked at H.H. Hall Construction for 5 years and 32 years at Kozeny-Wagner as vice-president and partner. He and Kay moved to Pocahontas in 1971 and remained there. He was a veteran of the United states Marine Corp and a Reservist for the USMC. He was known for having a hard work ethic, good morals, his sense of humor, and being a family man. No matter how many hours he put in at work at Kozeny-Wagner or on Walker Farms, he never missed an activity his sons were involved in. He was once asked what family meant to him and he answered with a simple response, ‘everything;' and that is how his family feels about him as well.
