Military honors for Gery Lee Berg, 74, of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. The family will receive friends prior beginning at 10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of the family. You may join Gery’s family via livestream at https://my.gather.app/remember/gery-berg Gery Lee Berg was born on July 13, 1947, in Knoxville, Iowa to Lambert and Mable (VanDeKieft) Berg. Gery grew up in Melcher-Dallas, graduating with the class of 1966. He joined the Army and spent four years serving our country from 1968 to 1972. After he was discharged from the Army, he continued serving by working for the government in Alaska drawing documents. Gery met Gilda “Rene” in California, and the couple was married April 21, 1984. They were blessed with 37 wonderful years together. Gery was a true mountain man, which is why he received the nickname, “Grey Wolf.” It is also due to the fact that he raised wolf dogs during his time in Virginia. Gery is survived by his wife, Rene and was preceded in death by his stepson, Tony Ezell.
