Frankfort – John David Smith, 83, husband of Carol Sue Combs Smith, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on August 16, 1938 to the late William Gobel and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Smith. He was a Rock Truck Operator for the Kem Coal Company and a Veteran of the US Airforce. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his daughters, Tracy Smith, Shelbyville, and Robin (Jack) Gordon, Bowling Green; his son, William David (Debbie) Smith, Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Christy (Brian) Roper-Deaton, Mt. Sterling, Christopher Cornett, Hazard, Billy (Montana) Smith, Shelbyville, Jamie (Anthony) Betancourt, FL; his great grandchildren, Sydney Deaton, Mt. Sterling, Chris (Holly) Cornett, Shelbyville, Kaiya Smith, Shelbyville, Kayleigh Cornett, Shelbyville, Julia Betancourt, FL, and A.J. Betancourt, FL; as well as his great great grandchildren, Jaelyn Cornett, and Freya Cornett. No services have been planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beech Ridge Baptist Church, Shelbyville.
