Mary Salgueiro Obituary

Mary Salgueiro, 91, of Rehoboth, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Raymond A. Salgueiro to whom she was married 69 years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Jose J. and Mary (Medeiros) Januario. After raising her three children, Mary returned to work as a bookkeeper/office manager at Crestwood Country Club for 19 years before retiring. She was also a member of the Secretaries Association. Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Church and was a devout and faithful practicing Catholic. She loved reading and she traveled the world through her books. Mary enjoyed playing Scrabble and her biggest joy in life was her family. She was truly devoted to her family and was always there for them. She enjoyed cooking and hosting family gatherings. Mary is deeply missed.

Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Cynthia M. Jewett and her husband William of Rehoboth, Cheryl A. Salgueiro of Riverside, three grandchildren, Michelle M. Salgueiro-Tooley and her husband Joseph, Juanita J. Anthony, and Stephanie R. Salgueiro, and five great grandchildren. Mary was the mother of the late Stephen R. Salgueiro.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-8. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehoboth Food Pantry ([email protected]) or the RI Food Bank (www.rifoodbank.org).
