Roland Edwin Duckett

Roland Edwin Duckett, 76, of Glen Allen, passed away on September 6, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Aundrey Duckett. He is survived by his loving wife, Harriet; sons, Michael Duckett (Nida) and Bryan Duckett (Carrie); daughters, Kimberly Panek (Rich) and Erin Miles (Eric); grandchildren, Sydney Panek, Madeleine Panek, Kaitlyn Duckett, Landen Duckett, Claire Duckett, Norah Duckett and Sadie Miles; brothers, Ronnie Duckett (Gaye), Nelson Duckett (Elaine), Wayne Duckett, and Kenny Duckett (Lauren); sister, Frances Hume (Ted); as well as his well-fed faithful canine companion and best friend, Misty. Roland attended Virginia Tech, where he earned his B.S. in Agricultural Economics in 1967 as well as his M.S. in Agricultural Economics in 1969. While at Virginia Tech, he was in the Corps of Cadets and a member of the N Squadron. During his sophomore year he met his wife, Harriet, on a blind date which led to 54 years of a wonderful marriage. Roland was a veteran of the US Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his honorable discharge from the US Army in 1972, he had a long career as a dedicated and hardworking banker for 32 years. Roland enjoyed working outside, taking walks with his family, spoiling his grandkids and beloved pups, and catching up on the news and weather while satisfying his sweet tooth. He was a proud, loving, and supporting husband, father, and grandfather. He was a kind man with a generous heart and will be dearly missed. A grave side service is being held, for family, at 11am on October 9th, 2021, at Kenwood United Methodist Church cemetery, located at 11208 Elmont Road, Ashland, VA 23005. The family will receive friends for a celebration of his life from 1pm to 5pm, Saturday October 9th, 2021. Please contact the family directly for address and directions to the celebration of life.
