<p>Graveside services honoring Bennie Douglas Griffin will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka. Keith Thompson will be officiating. Bennie passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 in Bixby. He was 75 years old.<br /> <br /> Bennie grew up alongside 3 brothers and 2 sisters in the countryside of northern Okfuskee County. Born October 1, 1945 in Pharoah, Bennie was the son of Eulah Elliott and Nora Marie (Yarbrough) Griffin. The Griffins were a hard-working farming family, spending long hours raising cattle, and working in the fields harvesting peanuts and cotton. The brothers grew to be inseparable and remained close to each other throughout their entire lifetimes.<br /> <br /> Bennie was a hard worker. He maintained gainful employment in the glass plants and was also employed as a welder. Bennie also worked in the aerospace sector for McDonnell Douglass. Bennie&rsquo;s true calling in life was his career as a musician. He was an accomplished guitarist, singer, drummer, as well as a player of the banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. Bennie played gigs all over the country however, he spent most of his time at the Hall of Fame Club in Tulsa. He loved Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, and a broad spectrum of country, rock n roll, and pop artists through the years. Bennie also enjoyed all of the traditional gospel hymns.<br /> <br /> In February of 1996, Bennie met Gilda Agostinone while listening to &ldquo;oldies&rdquo; at Lenny&rsquo;s Pub in February of 1996. The couple shared numerous common interests and spent over 26 wonderful years together. Bennie and Gilda married on November 7, 2017 in Okmulgee County by the honorable Judge Pandee Ramirez.<br /> <br /> Bennie was a collector a many various types of vinyl, particularly the 45 RPM&rsquo;s. He found the greatest pleasure while hunting records at auctions, always looking for the &ldquo;big find!&rdquo; Bennie will not soon be forgotten by a host of family and friends to cherish his memory.<br /> <br /> Surviving family members include his wife, Gilda Agostinone-Griffin; his children, Doug Griffin, Aaron Griffin (Kimberly), and Faith Agostinone-Wilson; grandchildren, Troy, Blake, Keith, Alexis, and Brennan (Holly); brothers, Larry Griffin (Toni), Johnny Griffin (Karren), and Sue Street (Keith); as well as a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.<br /> <br /> Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Danny Griffin; and his sister, Ann Sizemore.</p>

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Danny Griffin; and his sister, Ann Sizemore.
