It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Gene at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, September 10, 2021, in his 84th year. Surrounded by the love of his family, he left peacefully. Born in Poland Feb 24, 1938, came to Canada at age 11 where he grew up in Burtch, Ontario and then settled in Brantford where he raised his family. Devoted husband of Donna (nee Easto) for 58 years. Forever loved and missed by his two daughters Sandra Colwell (Deane) and Sherry Ruzlo. A proud & loving grandfather who will be deeply missed by his grandsons Eric Colwell, Kody Kiss (Alysa) and Brandon Ruzlo. Very proud great grandfather to Kody’s children Mya, Jayda and Kada. A dear brother to Donna Holowaty (Carl) of St. Louis, Missouri and Sonia Ruzlo. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Serafina (nee Bielecki). In his earlier years he was a long-time employee of Massey Ferguson, then Inglis. Gene was an avid collector of many things and a vendor at Cainsville Collectible Market for 20 years. Gene was a true history buff who enjoyed selling and socializing at various marketplaces during his retirement. He was a grassroots member of the Brantford Coin Club for over 55 years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family service will be held. The service will be livestreamed on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 beginning at 2pm.
