Dorothy Ann Lucy Stewart

Dorothy Ann Lucy (Coleman) Stewart of 93 West Hampshire Street, Piedmont, West Virginia born on September 10, 1939 went to be with our Lord on September 11, 2021.

Lovingly known to her family and friends as Dausey, Honey, Dos Ann, Luce, and Presley, Dorothy has been described as a bright light that never fades. With her beautiful spirit and servant’s heart, she spent her life selflessly and graciously caring for others. She was always there to encourage, support and provide unconditional love to each of her family members. There is nothing she would not and had not joyfully sacrificed for her family. As humble as she was, Honey was blessed with so many precious gifts. She sang worship songs like an angel, baked like a world-class chef (her rolls, cookies, cakes and fried chicken are made with love and known and requested across the country), and shined and shared the light of the Lord everywhere she went just by being herself As a devoted Christian, she saw God in everything and believed that "All things work together for good to those that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose". (Romans 8:28 KJV). Dorothy is a true treasure of the Coleman family and will be deeply missed until we embrace her again in heaven.

Dorothy was an exceptional employee of the Westvaco Club from 1965 where she worked tirelessly for 40 years, beginning as a housekeeper and ascending in her career to become the first and only African American General Manager.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents James R. Coleman Sr. and Dorothy V. (Price) Coleman, her elder brother James R. Coleman Jr., her niece Danielle J. Dorsey, her grandson Brandon L. Coleman and her great nephew Joshua A. (Coleman) Hines and five children: daughter, Shannon (Coleman) Bell, husband Mike, great granddaughter Brielle, daughter Chasity (Hines) Richardson, husband Justin and great grandchildren Braydin and Bryson, daughter Lindsey Hines, son Langston Hines and son Seth Coleman. May God bless her soul, and give peace to all of her family. I had many lunches at the Westvaco Club over the years, and Dorothy was alway an inspiration. She was one of the most pleasant people I've ever known.
