JIMMY COX

James Charles Cox, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born October 10th, 1956 and passed away on September 11th, 2021 at the age of 64 at NYU Winthrop Hospital. Jimmy is survived by his wife and partner of 47 years Wendy Tutera-Cox, their three children Rose, Rae, and Teddy, two grandchildren James and Robert, his mother Georgeane Cox, and his four sisters and their families. A lifelong resident of Nassau County, Jimmy was raised in Valley Stream and graduated from Southern Connecticut State College, where he met Wendy on the first day of their freshman year orientation. After graduating from college in 1978, he returned to Valley Stream to work full time alongside his father Jim Cox, running the family plumbing business. Wendy and Jimmy wed in 1980 and have resided in East Rockaway since 2009. At his death, Jimmy was the owner and proprietor of Charles Cox Plumbing, a business owned and run by his family for 100 years. Jimmy was beloved in the community, both by those who knew him through his work and by the many who knew him personally, especially by his inseparable group of friends. For those of us who were blessed to have Jimmy in our lives, we will forever miss his love, kindness, and unending sense of humor.
