Rosalie M Giorno Obituary

Rosalie Giorno, age 83, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2021 due to complications from pneumonia. She was born on March 22, 1938 in Newark, New Jersey to Sebastiano and Connie (Curcione) Grosso. She met Joseph R. Giorno on a blind date in 1962 and after a two-year courtship they were married on September 19,1964. Rosalie worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company for 8 years after graduating from Barringer High School in Newark, NJ in 1956. She was a stay at home Mom until her 2 children entered elementary school. In order to remain close to them and keep the same schedule, she took a job as a special education-teacher’s aide, and worked for the South Brunswick Board of Education for over 20 years. Rosalie was a natural working with special needs children and loved spending time with them inside and outside of the classroom. She truly had a servant’s heart. Rosalie was an active member of the PTA, a member of the Police Wives Association, and a Cub Scout / Boys Scout Den Mother. After her children graduated, Rosalie went on to work in the private sector as a Customer Service Agent for McMaster-Carr, where she retired after 19 years in 2002. Rosalie was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Church in South Brunswick, NJ. She loved the Lord and the Blessed Mother with all her heart. Her strength came from the Lord and her special relationship with Mary, who she tried to emulate everyday as a woman, wife, and mother. So, it came at no surprise to anyone that she went to be with the Lord on the day that the Catholic Church celebrates the birth of the Blessed Mother. In conjunction, the Jewish faith says that only the truly righteous pass between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Those who knew Rosalie would agree that this is truly fitting There are many bible verses about women that show their strength time and time again during hardship, life’s most fearful moments, and in happy times too. Rosalie resembled many of these amazing women. She was as strong a woman as they come. She was tough, yet gentle; funny, zany, serious, deliberate, loving, complex and… “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14 Rosalie Giorno has left an indelible mark on her family, neighbors, friends, and strangers. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph R. Giorno, a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kim Giorno, a daughter Karen Rosalie Giorno, 2 grandchildren Brianna Giorno Cooper and her husband James Cooper, and Joseph Giorno, a great grandson, James Scott Cooper, III., her sister Patricia Ringer and her husband Patrick Ringer, and her two nieces, Susan Rhodes and Kaitlyn Ringer.
