Edna Dorion Obituary

On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, Edna Dorion went home to be with our heavenly father at the age of 89 years old.

Edna was born in Camperville, MB. On January 3, 1932. On June 6, 1952 she married Solomon Dorion of Cumberland House, SK. Together they started a family in Thicket Portage,MB where they did everything they could to raise their family well. They lived in Thicket until the year 1966, when Solomon moved his family to Thompson, MB. Which they would call home.

Edna was a very loving person and she worked hard all of her life. She began her working career in Thicket as a cook at Freemans hotel. She had numerous jobs later cooking in bush camps throughout the north. She started cooking for limestone in 1986-1991. Edna retired from Whiskeyjack as a cook, where she worked from 1991-1993.She loved cooking and when you tasted her cooking you fell in love with it and always wanted more, or always came back for more.

Edna was a person you fell in love with when you met her. She always invited you into her home with great hospitality. She loved her husband and children very much and she would do anything and everything for them. She prayed for them always and she loved spending time and telling stories with her kids and all her of grandchildren and whoever came to visit her. She was a great story teller and she always made you laugh with her humorous stories. She loved playing Bingo and Poker until she couldn’t play anymore.

Edna is survived by her children: Ronnie, Marlene (Irwin), Mildred, Melinda (Jack), Lawrence, Rudy, Muriel (Scott), Edith (Alfred). Brothers: Solomon (Carol), Louie (Caroline), and Sister Isabelle (Tony). Brother in law: Albert and Grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews to numerous to mention.

Edna was predeceased by her Husband: Solomon, Parents: Lawrence and Honora, Son: Lawrence, Daughters: Louise, Marlene, and Marie (Nick). Father and Mother- in- law: Baptiste and Veronica. Brothers: Jim (Isabelle), Joe (Edith), Robert (Rosalie), Harry (Leona), Marcel (Florence). Sisters: Annie (Phillip), Rose (Pat), Marie, Louise. Brother-in-law: Reggie (Jenny), Gilbert (Marcella), Jonas (Tuggan). Sister-in-law: Flora Jane (George), Mertyle. Grandchildren: Shawn, Aria.

Edna lived a long and happy life. She was not afraid to leave this world: her only regret was that she had to leave all of us behind. She believed that we would carry on her legacy of loving her children and family and, take care of each other, just as she took care of us. She believed that we would all see her again and that we would reflect on her life and the great and fun times we all had with her.
