Edward James Kopacek, age 86. Beloved Husband of 59 years of Velta Kopacek, nee Pazenkovskis; loving father of James (Connie) Kopacek; cherished grandfather of Derek and Lance (Michelle) Kopacek; dear brother of Florence (Roy) Swanson; brother-in-law of Jacenta (Laszlo) Berty; fond uncle of Linda (Paul), Matthew, and Bradley Jansyn, Steven (Kim), Taylor, Alison, Sydney, and Kenneth Swanson, Janet (Matt) Eton, Emily Gill, Todd (Lisa), Nicole, Adam, and Mark Toerpe, and other nieces and nephews; preceded in death by his parents James and Alice Kopacek and sister Barbara (Toerpe) Schultz. Edward enjoyed his careers with various printing corporations and though productive and challenging his very main focus and joys in life were always his family and friends. Edward was passionate about many sports while growing up. As an adult he enjoyed Fishing, bowling, and golf with friends. Edward thought dinners, parties and theater with family and friends were paramount. He will be forever remembered for his honesty, sharp wit and marvelous sense of humor. Edward's easy contagious smile endeared him to all he met immediately. Edward was dedicated and enjoyed his volunteer efforts with Meals on Wheels and the Humane Society. Visitation Tuesday, September 14 from 3 pm until time of service at 7 pm, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd, Lombard. Interment Private.
