Gene Guy Mintz 1943-2021 Gene Mintz, 78, of Waynesville, passed away on September 8, 2021 at Mission Hospital-Memorial Campus. A native of Haywood County, Gene was the son of the late John Henry Mintz and Violet Reece Mintz. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Lawrence, Roy, Oscar, Don, Dock, Mae, and Florence. Gene enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and going on picnics. He loved watching Western Movies and talking about the good old days. He never met a stranger and loved his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Barbara Swanger Mintz; children, Karen (Alvin) Lovin of Newport, TN and Roger Mintz of Waynesville; grandchildren, Stacie Mintz of Asheville, Aleisha (Matthew) Leonard of Wilmington, and Gene Austin Mintz of Waynesville; brothers, Dewey Mintz and Boyd Mintz; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Smoky Mountain Chapel, with Noel Cagle officiating. Graveside Service will be Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Community Cemetery.
