Leonard "Lenny" Allen Robbins

<p>Leonard Allen (Lenny) Robbins, aged 78, of Rockford, MI passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the son of the late Orlando Mason and Dorothy (Shafer) Robbins and graduated from Hart High School in Hart, Michigan. &nbsp;</p> <p>Lenny deeply loved his country and proudly served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, taking part in the battle of Hamburger Hill.</p> <p>He got a degree in welding from Ferris State University and was a proud member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 190, working for 51 years as a foreman for Sub-Surfaces Construction.</p> <p>As a young boy, Lenny was taught the value of working hard. He worked at the Munger Cherry Orchards in Hart as their water boy. He drove a truck through the orchards, bringing water to all the workers each day. As an adult he was known for that same dedication to hard work, no matter the task, and finding &ldquo;his way&rdquo; to do the best job possible. His hobbies were maintaining a beautiful garden, working on remodeling projects, cooking, watching Nascar, and doing his beloved word search puzzles. He was a friend to many and had a generous heart towards friends and family alike.</p> <p>Len was preceded in death by many loved ones; his wife Emma, daughter Diana Coryell, infant brother Orlando Mason Robbins, Jr., sisters Barbara (Paul) Harvey, Maxine (Charles) Duvall, Peggy-Mable (Frank) Thomas,&nbsp; Ella (Bud) Trommater and Florence (Bob) Dobson.</p> <p>He is survived by his daughter Carrie VanOstran, son Chris (Annie) Robbins, grandchildren Betsy and Emily VanOstran; Ryan, Nick, Nolan, and Nathan Robbins, Cathleen (Zachry) Feldpausch, Phillip (Rebekah) Coryell and one great-grandson Henry Feldpausch. &nbsp;Also surviving are siblings Russ (Cathy) Robbins, Donna (Bill) Gibson, Peggy (Lloyd) Shellhorn, Marsha Soest, Debby (Don) Birkman, and nephews and nieces as well. &nbsp;</p> <p>He will be dearly missed by his devoted companion Pam Trommater and her family along with special friends Ron and Sharlene Sauser.</p> <p>A military service with honor guard is planned at the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery on Friday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 PM.</p>
