George Ludwig Wendlandt, born December 24, 1927, of Austin, Texas passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 93. George was born and raised in Austin, Texas and attended the original Palm Elementary, University Jr. High, Austin High School and the University of Texas, where he graduated with a Business degree. He wen tinto business with his father at Wendlandt Brokerage Co. He later worked the business with his son Ted, who still runs it today. George married Norma Peterson at Gethsemane Lutheran Church when it was located on Congress Ave near the State Capital. George was the lasts surviving member of the building committee for the Gethsemane Church at its current location. George and Norma were loyal vollunteer at Church for many years. George was also an active member in the Church's Men in Mission group and enjoyed their meetings very much. George was a life long member of Austin Saengerrunde, the oldest ethnic organization in Austin, where he was the oldest an dlongest termed member. He was an active bowler there for three decades. George also loved to play softball, golf, and hunt and fish. George and Norma's greatest pastime was going to their children and grandchildren's concerts, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, golf, kickball games and anything else they could. George is survived by three children, Gary (Julie), Vicki Morgan (Rod), and Ted Wednlandt (Beverly); grandchildren, Amanda, Lauren (Jeff), Paige (Aaron), Kelly, Lauren (Jake) and Bryan; seven great grandchildren; sister Rea Wiruscheske; brother Fred Wendlandt; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Norma Peterson Wendlandt, parents, Ludwig and Eda Haenel Wendlandt and grandson, Jake Wendlandt. The family would like to thank Lorie Weyrick and Heartstone Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 East Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78752. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 15th at 10:30 AM at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 200 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78752. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, Texas 78731. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
