Obituary
Louise Keith Barton age 96 died peacefully at home on September 8, 2021. She was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on February 22, 1925. Louise was a born again Christian and a long-time loyal member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee since 1957. She received a BS degree in education from East Carolina Teachers College in 1946. Louise then embarked on her teaching career by teaching for 9 years in North Carolina. After marrying her husband, they moved to Chattanooga where she taught at Anna B. Lacey, was the Director of early childhood at Burkes Methodist Church and taught at Highland Park Elementary before retiring in 1986 from the Chattanooga City Schools. She spent the last 5 years living in Knoxville with her daughter and son-in-law. Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth Russell Barton; infant son, George Russell Barton; mother, Elizabeth Garland Keith; father, Claude Gordon Keith; sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Jesse Stewart. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Thomas Mills; grandsons and wives, Wesley and Sarah Mills, Alex and Carly Mills; granddaughter, Laura Mills, all of Knoxville. Family and friends will meet 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery for a 12:30 p.m. graveside service and interment with Rev. Wesley Mills officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Serving the family, Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
