Thomas G. "Jerry" Hickey Obituary

Thomas G. “Jerry” Hickey passed away peacefully September 7, 2021, at U H Geauga Medical Center in Chardon.  He was born November 1, 1943, in Painesville to William and Edith (Hinton) Hickey. Jerry was a life-long resident of Painesville.

Jerry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.  For over 50 years, he owned and operated United Sales, Inc., a family business originally founded by his father. Jerry was fiercely Irish and rarely turned down a chance to share stories of the family’s Irish heritage. Jerry was also a proud alum of the University of Arizona. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping and collecting model cars. Jerry was a dog-person to his core, and he especially loved German Shepherds. Most of all, Jerry was a devoted family man and was never more happy to spend time with the entire family.

Jerry is survived by his bride of 49 years, Carol (Pomfrey) Hickey; sons, Timothy (Michelle) Hickey, Geoffrey S. (Emily) Hickey and Douglas Hickey; daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Bryan (Marissa) Zimmerman, Bret Zimmerman, Brayden Zimmerman, Danica Zimmerman, Gregory (Binbin) Hickey, Geoffrey R. Hickey, Isaac Hickey and R. J. Hickey.

Jerry is now reunited with his brothers, James, William, Robert, and Dennis Hickey; sister, Patricia Hickey, and his parents, in Heaven. Word is the next St. Patrick’s Day is going to be a wild one.

A Memorial Service with military honors will be held Sunday, September 12th at 2:00 PM at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Friends will be received from 1:00 – 2:00 PM before the service.
