<p>On Wednesday September 8th, 2021 Edith Morales Mendez 91,&nbsp;passed away peacefully at home.</p> <p>&nbsp;Edith was born on April 6, 1930 in Utuado, Puerto Rico and lived there until last year when she moved to Connecticut so her daughters can help care for her.&nbsp;She was&nbsp;a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother&nbsp;and so much more to so&nbsp;many.&nbsp;She worked at Westinghouse in Puerto Rico&nbsp;for over 20 years and retired from there.&nbsp;Besides being with family, playing bingo and shopping trips, she enjoyed running in marathons with her husband. You could always find them at a local park running the track together. Edith was known by her community as a woman of faith, caring, kind,&nbsp;loving and always wearing&nbsp;her infectious smile. She also made Pasteles during the holidays that she would sell and even the&nbsp;people that would come to Puerto Rico on vacation came looking for her to buy. She took pride in doing everything she did, especially her cooking.</p> <p>Edith is preceded in death by her son Rafael Guzman, Jr., who passed away on December 23, 2020. She is survived by her loving husband, Rafael Guzman Lopez of 70 years;&nbsp;daughters Zaida and Madelyn Guzman;&nbsp;grandchildren Jessica Cass, Michael Larson,&nbsp;Omayra Quiles; and her 9 great grandchildren.</p> <p>The Guzman Morales family would like to thank all those who prayed for Edith and the family. It means so much to them&nbsp;all.</p> <p>A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Joseph&#39;s Church, 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT.&nbsp; Burial will follow at 1:00pm at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;</p>

Obituary

On Wednesday September 8th, 2021 Edith Morales Mendez 91, passed away peacefully at home.

 Edith was born on April 6, 1930 in Utuado, Puerto Rico and lived there until last year when she moved to Connecticut so her daughters can help care for her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and so much more to so many. She worked at Westinghouse in Puerto Rico for over 20 years and retired from there. Besides being with family, playing bingo and shopping trips, she enjoyed running in marathons with her husband.
