Carson Lee Meares

Carson Lee Meares, age 57 of Fair Bluff, passed away on September 5, 2021 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville, NC, following a recent illness.

Carson was born on March 23, 1964, in Columbus County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Lee and Pauline Davis Meares; his brother, Johnny Robert Meares.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Moore and Reverend Darren Smart officiating.  Interment will follow in the Meares Family Cemetery, located on Rough and Ready Road, Fair Bluff.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday evening, at the funeral home.

Carson was a passionate farmer; he enjoyed planting crops to be harvested. Carson was previously employed by Walmart in Lumberton, as a meat manager. He served as a member of Fair Bluff Fire and Rescue. Carson was married to his wife, Gloria, for 33 years. Above all, he loved being a girl-dad. Carson enjoyed spending time with his family; You could almost always find him on the softball field. He loved his nieces, nephews, and 2 great-nephews so much. Carson always had a smile on his face, and he never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Pridgen Meares of the home; children, Karsha Leigh Meares, Kristen Brooke Meares (Kevin Rising); sister, Ann Meares Griffin (Marcus) of Fair Bluff; mother-in-law, Linda Pridgen of Fair Bluff brother-in-law, Paul Pridgen (Michelle) of Cerro Gordo; nieces and nephews, Jenna Foley (Channing) of Fair Bluff, Ryan Pridgen (Brooke) of Cerro Gordo, Rachel Griffin of Hallsboro, Emily Singletary (Clay) of Whiteville, Jessica Griffin of Tabor City, Erin Griffin of Fair Bluff, Johnny Lee Meares of Clarkton, Morgan Moody (Micheal) of Texas; great-nephews, Everett Foley and Easton Pridgen.
